Your Morning Coffee 10/08/2024

Good morning!

Welcome to your morning coffee! May our Heavenly Father fill us to overflowing with a deep and abiding sense of His goodness. Father, you are good! Jesus my Lord and Savior, you are good! Holy Spirit, my teacher and comforter, you are good! Heavenly Father, thank you for who you are, and how you love us. Help us to rest in your character and trust in your goodness. In the powerful name of Jesus, and by the presence of the Spirit, help us. Amen.

Your Morning Song: "The Goodness" by Toby Mac and Blessing Offor

Your Morning Scripture: Psalm 34:8-10

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!

Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!

Oh, fear the Lord, you his saints,

for those who fear him have no lack!

The young lions suffer want and hunger;

but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

...

I had to fill up the van with gas this morning. And not to say that I resent the money it costs or the time it takes to pump it, but there is this thought that lingers, "What if there was always gas in this tank?"

Just so that we're clear, that's not how gas tanks work.

But how like cars we so often are! We go and go and go, burning up the fuel of our hearts and minds, longing to be filled, longing for rest, longing to be rejuvenated and restored. We long to feel full, rested, whole.

The answer to our empty gas tanks, our weary hearts and minds, is not unleaded, or even premium unleaded.

The answer to our weariness is God. The answer to any of our needs, God. The one who fills us and sustains us and guards us. He is the only one.

The goodness of God fills me and sustains me.

The goodness of God gives me hope with or without answers.

The goodness of God is what I need, and, because of Jesus, what I get.

May we live and move and breathe, sustained by this undeniable, forever truth.

The goodness of God is perfect. The goodness of God can always be trusted. Because God is perfectly good, everything He does must be perfect, or He ceases to be God.

And so, no matter what, I can always trust God. I don't need to know what He's up to. I don't need answers. I love His explanations and answers. And He loves to give them. But I don't need them. And He doesn't owe me any.

We are filled to overflowing by who God is.

Good as nothing else could ever be.

God is forever good.

And He is for you,

and for me.
